Your values are made up of everything that has happened to you in your life and include influences from: your parent and family, your religious affiliation, your friends and peers, your education, your reading, and more.
Effective people recognize these environmental influences and identify and develop a clear, concise, and meaningful set of values/beliefs, and priorities.
Once defined, values impact every aspect of your life. Living your values is one of the most powerful tools available to you to help you be the person you want to be, to help you accomplish your goals and dreams, and to help you lead and influence others. (Susan M. Heathfield, follow her link below to read about her.)
According to Collin Dictionary value are: 1) the desirability of a thing, worth, merit, or importance; 2) reasonable or equivalent return, satisfaction; 3) precise meaning or significance; 4) the moral principles and beliefs or accepted standard of person or social group.
From the above explanation, I summarize the meaning of values for myself as: my values are my desires for things that I believe are worthy, merit, or importance, as the reflection of my moral and life principles based on my life experiences, which also influenced by my: parent and family, educations, learning and reading, religion, work’s cultures and environments, friends and peers, and social interactions.
Once defined, values impact all aspects of your life, said Heathfield. Because by recognizing your personal values, you'll have senses of purpose, focus, and direction as well as becoming your priorities in your life.
They'll put your steps in the right track toward success. You become confidence, because all your decisions will be influenced and guided by those values.
That you knew your priorities, they'll lead you to become an effective person in your life because mostly of your decision makings will be based on the values you have chosen and set up. As what
Heathfield has said above: 'Effective people recognize these environmental influences and identify and develop a clear, concise, and meaningful set of values/beliefs, and priorities.'
These are the reasons why successful people with great achievements, recognized these values very well and have developed them to become their lives’ principles.
