Following my Dad advice that "I better keep working until the end of my life" is actually true.
I've had seen and watched the lives of family members, friends and colleagues where their health conditions had degraded so quick after they've retired.
This condition happened because after they've retired, they've just stayed at home passively without much activities going on in their lives.
Some of them even left this world for good not long after the retirement.
This is probably what my dad meant to me with his advice to keep working till the end of my life.
Even though he did not give me the reason of saying that, I can understand now by myself why he had advised me to keep working, because if not, the result could be like those retirees mentioned above.
Scientifically, my dad for sure wouldn't have had a clue to have said this kind of conclusion, however he might be made his conclusion based on his evaluation by learning from the facts and realities he'd seen through out his life.
Connecting my dad advice and the effect of not following the advice, I can see the cause and effect relationship with the health and mental degradation as well as to our brain development.
Dr. David Rock in his book “Quiet Leadership” gave a title name for one of the chapters as “The Brain Is A Connection Machine”. He's given this title based on what scientists have discovered that our brain is a connection machine.
Below I've quoted some of his explanations about our brain.
'The underlying functionality of our brain is one of finding associations, connections, and links between bits of information.
Our thoughts, memories, skills, and attributes are vast sets of connections or “maps” joined together via complex chemical and physical pathways.
Connections or maps here is circuits, wiring, or neural pathway.
These sets of maps are created through a process of the brain making over a million new connections every second between different points.
So every thought, skill, and attribute we have is a complex map of connections between pieces of information stored in many parts of the brain.'
The brain has around 100 billion neurons. Each neuron may have up to 100,000 dendrites (think of dendrites as roots – they gather information for the neuron) and one axon (think of the axon as a trunk, passing on information).
The connections between our neurons, connected by the dendrites, are the maps that guide our thoughts, behaviors, and action.' Quoted from pages 3, 4 and 7.
So, to draw a relationship between our brain and active or passive living activities based on Dr. Rock explanation above, briefly I can think of conclusions I've made below.
When our brain is active and busy with works or activities, it keeps making new connections of neurons that forming new wires or layers in our brain. It means our brain is developing or growing.
While if we have less or no activities, our brain will create less or no connections of neurons or wires and as the result our brain does not grow or even probably degrading.
With above explanation and conclusions, what do you think you're going to decide for your retirement?
Are you preparing to retire?
In regarding to retire, I've prepared myself by involving in learning and educating myself about online entreprenurship. Through this process, I've found that becoming an online entrepreneur is one of the best ideas to channel our work, career and life experiences for our better retirement lifestyle.
If we've ever thinking of making holiday trips without worrying about money, buying a dream home or a dream car, or something else we've planned to do during our retirement time, this entrepreneurship gives the opportunities for all of those dreams.
If you’ve achieved all of your dreams during the plateau of your career or before retiring, then probably you don’t need to think about this idea of entrepreneurship, but just enjoy your life doing your plans with family and friends.
My only question is will you survive your health degradation for no quality activities essentially to replace your active work, career and life patterns you've been doing ever since?
How I'm Preparing Myself for Retire.
I’ve utilized Solo Build It or SBI software and program as a tool to establish my online business office/home as well as building my business digitally. I've given a title to SBI as an "MBA Program Online" for its comprehensive tools, software and programs for us to build our business.
With skills, knowledge, work experiences and business studies, I've found SBI very useful for my business development.
No one that I could've hold as a mentor or coach to guide and assist me in my preparation to becoming an entrepreneur. Now I don't need either a mentor or a coach, what I need is ready in SBI.
I've also joined High Ticket Affiliate Marketing (HTAM) system provided by My Online Business Education (MOBE). To me MOBE is complement to SBI that both can create a synergistic advantages on developing my online business and preparation for my retirement.
Are You Going To Retire Soon?
What about the preparation? Are you ready?
I did not have that worry of preparation for retire before, because I've never thought of when or how I was going to live my retirement. I've left my corporate job when I was in the highest position of my career. I did that because of my vision for family and specially for my children's future.
After leaving my job, I was struggling for about 8 years. During this time period, I've tried and done many jobs as alternative selections to develop myself.
I was thinking to pave new line of career with alternative selections because I've felt tired and bored in my previous corporate job for always staring at laptop monitor almost every day for long period of time.
But finally I realized that it was very difficult to learn and develop a new skill in order to reach the level of income I was expecting. Beside, by ignoring my valuable skills, knowledge, experiences, and passion, from previous corporate jobs, I've lost lots of opportunity for trying to progress in new areas of expertise.
Luckily, I've found SBI that has channeled my endeavors in online business after probably 3 years of doing trials and errors to making money online, share tradings, affiliate memberships and other online programs.
Retire just come to my mind recently, after being convinced with the progress that I've created and developed my website with SBI as my office for online business.
My business background, my experiences in financial/accounting, plus my involvement in Christian’s ministry, have given me such invaluable lessons that I was able to judge and trust SBI for my future business development and preparation to retire.
I've found SBI more resourceful and best tools, software and programs, if you would like to consider online entrepreneurship as your chosen field for retirement.
Taking a step to disclose an unknown is how we find our way for a new life style. Wish you do one more step to see what you capable of.
